Daily Prompt: Clock

VLUU L310W L313 M310W / Samsung L310W L313 M310W

Ticking by…

My childhood clocks were happily faced round

Two hands that swept the hours with measured turn

The comforting ‘tick-tock’ as seconds sound

Dividing time by moments to be yearned

Each incremental movement quivers true

We feel how sixty minutes, twelve by five

Create an hour that soothes the soul of you

Each clock a beating heart, as if alive

But nowadays our view of time stands still

As electronic screens shine silently

Their digits flat, inordinately dull

Just ghosts of light that haunt so lifelessly

I mourn for time no longer ticking by

Must watch my life flash past until I die…

Daily Prompt: Clock

Ornate clock from the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. The museum itself used to be an old railway terminus building, so this would have been a stunning station clock in its heyday 🙂

Beautifully written. I feel the same way about them … “Each clock a beating heart, as if alive”

    Digital clocks have no soul.
