Delighted at the welcome return of Cee’s Which Way Challenge, so please join me on a crisp winter afternoon walk in Wanstead Park taken earlier this year 🙂

In my life growing up in Bethnal Green, I never ventured to the depths of Wanstead, although it is really not so far away. The photos show it as a wonderful park land and a river, or pond, also runs through it.

I believe it is where the City of London cemetery is which interests me. My father’s brother, who I never knew. had a bad accident at the age of 21 and was buried in this cemetery. Of course this was some time in the 1930’s so the grave probably no longer exists.

The City of London Cemetery isn’t far away from me either – it’s another favourite place to wander and ponder. But there are still lots of really old graves there, so I imagine one from the 1930s would definitely still be there, if you knew where to look.

Thanks – I just had a look online of the grave names, but did not find my dad’s brother. My dad passed away in June, at the age of 100 years and 7 months and I will probably no longer be visiting London, as I now have no direct family there and travelling is not longer so easy for me.

That’s a shame, but if you do manage to find out exactly where your uncle is buried I’d happily go and take a photo of the grave for you – it’s a beautiful resting place, very peaceful 🙂
