Thursday Doors: Old Garage Doors

A thoroughly enjoyable wander around the back alleys of local residential streets here in East London on a sunny afternoon revealed a delightful selection of old painted garage doors looking decidedly the worse for wear – flaky peeling paintwork created by a genuine patina of age does it for me every time πŸ™‚

Some serious TLC needed on some of these, but they all tell their own unique story. A lovely collection Ruth πŸ™‚

There are more than enough pristine but characterless metallic garage doors out there, so it’s nice to let these not-so-painted old-wood under-doors shine for a change, isn’t it? πŸ™‚

A lot of history behind those doors, I’ll say! Do you live in London, or a visit?

I’ve lived in London for the last 15 years, and there’s always something new to see πŸ™‚

It’s one of these big cities where you have to live to really get to know it (lived in Berlin and the Hague, went to the university in Amsterdam). We only spent a day in London (have friends in Sussex), took pics and went to the Tate – am a painter, so I loved it!

These doors have certainly served long and hard. Someone should give them a little love. Or at least a coat of paint.
