Daily Prompt: Calm

The basic act of walking in nature never fails to calm me – however bad I may feel I know I can always go for a walk in the fresh air, come rain or shine, and immediately I’ll start to feel better about whatever it is that’s bothering me, even if nothing external has actually been changed by the act of walking.

There’s just something so familiar and comforting in simply putting one foot in front of the other, over and over, again and again, propelling myself forwards through life. Walking on the earth’s natural surface grounds me in a way nothing else does.

The natural rhythm of it all soothes me somehow, as if it is my own internal rhythm of heartbeat, breath, and walking that keeps me moving onwards, feeling truly alive in the world, day after day… ❤
