Thursday Doors: Concertina

red-concertina-door

Found this faded pair of huge red concertina doors along Whitechapel Road, East London – no idea what the building is used for, were it not for the security guard I may well have assumed it was abandoned…

I’ve never heard that description for folding doors before now … and aren’t a bit unusual for external doors? Now I’m curious about what’s behind them 🙂

Like Joanne said, the term is not used around here, we usually call them accordion doors. And I have never seen any of that size in an exterior setting – quite unusual. Big red folding doors – it sure would be hard to miss that entrance! Nice find 🙂

Different musical instrument, same folding shape for the bellows! 🙂

The security guard does add mood! The contrast of the color yellow on the red doors – but you also wonder what he is there for….

Does make me wonder what might be inside, but such interesting doors no matter what they hide.
