Pencil Sketch – My Baby Boy

While searching for something else this afternoon I found this tattered old pencil sketch of my beautiful baby boy in his Christening gown – he’s now 34, so it’s definitely been kicking around for a while!

I’ve never been great at portraits, neither in drawing nor photography, but this was drawn with love and I’ve kept it all these years for sentimental reasons as much as anything, so I just thought I’d share it here ❤

I have a granddaughter who shares your talent. It’s come down through the family, but skipped past me. 😦 If I had inherited that skill I think my choice would be pencil and charcoal.

I haven’t drawn in charcoal since I was at school 🙂

Awww… thanks! He was such a cute baby, and now he’s a grown man nearly six foot tall 🙂

It’s amazing how we see both the man and the baby (and the toddler and the adolescent and the teen), isn’t it? We’re some of the lucky ones, I’d say. 🙂

To be honest I haven’t drawn anything in years, but I might try to pickit up again… never too old, and all that! 🙂

I think you are a very artistically talented woman, Ruth! That’s really good. I have a pen and ink drawing I did of my now 42-year-old son, from a photograph. It’s not nearly this good.
