Daily Prompt: Local

Local urban landscape scenes along the Lea River Waterways these days are rarely complete without a crane or two standing tall in the background – East London certainly seems to be enjoying regeneration on a big scale 🙂

In my old London East End days my friend and I were both Leyton Orient supporters, two girls. To save money on the tube, we would walk to the ground in Brisbane Road in Leyton and the main part of the walk was along the river Lea. I am talking about approxiately 1962 before anyone had ideas about an Olympic Park. We were young and energetic then and I still remember the walk, the scenery was pleasant without so much industry.

There seem to be a lot of fancy riverside apartments springing up everywhere, and trendy bars – but it’s still nice to walk along the water’s edge. We walked from Hackney Wick to Bromley-by-Bow yesterday and there were loads of cranes 🙂

It’s a good thing I like canals and rivers and cranes 🙂
