Bank Holiday Fair

Paying homage to the old traditions of the past with a small travelling fair on Wanstead Flats, East London this lovely Bank Holiday weekend – great fun and excitement for the local children, and a dash of vibrant colour to cheer us all up  🙂

Apparently there have been travelling fairs setting up on Wanstead Flats since the end of the 18th Century.

Daily Prompt: Homage

Travel with Intent: Colourful

Interesting! There have been local summer fairs all over this month here in Pennsylvania. Some do charge admission, and the grounds are usually crowded with fairgoers lining up for rides and food and more, and to see the prizewinning produce, flowers, crafts and livestock. The favorites are funnel cakes, fried Oreos and corn in the cob. And the usually have musical acts. This fair looks very quiet by comparison.

We walked over just as they were opening for the day, so no doubt it would have been much busier later. But over the years it has certainly become noticably smaller every visit 😦

What colourful captures of a fun event.
Not a part of London that I know, so many thanks for showing me something new.
