Daily Prompt: Doubt

If I’d realised that access to the towpath was closed off to all but private residents moored along the canal-side, I doubt if I’d have planned to enjoy an exploratory walk along London’s ‘Little Venice’ this afternoon. Apart from the little yellow-fronted boat, which was moored beyond the gate across the towpath, I was sadly unable to get up-close-and-personal to any of the other boats.

Instead I made the best of a bad job and walked along the road on either side, feeling somewhat imprisoned behind the black iron railings. I did still enjoy my wandering walk today, but not quite in the way I’d hoped… so I’m glad I went, but I doubt if I’ll go back. 🙂

Discover Challenge: Chance Encounter Take II

Amy-Winehouse-heaven

While walking along the banks of Regent’s Canal between Regent’s Park and Camden Lock, I experienced a chance encounter with a footless but otherwise beautifully-painted life-size Amy Winehouse apparently being carried up to heaven by two cherubic angels suspended on a rope between two trees – not quite sure who the robed bearded gentleman is, but the whole diorama certainly made me smile 🙂

G is for Graffiti

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with graffiti – and there’s always loads of it appearing here in London. Sometimes graffiti can be quite creative and artistic, but at other times it just seems to be sheer vandalism. This lot is pretty much on the cusp between the two, and I was really disappointed to find it under the road bridges crossing the Regent’s Canal – but I still took pictures of it anyway…

My theme for this year’s April A-Z Challenge is ‘My London A-Z’. I’ve found living in London to be very different from just visiting; in general I live a very ordinary life far removed from the craziness of the city itself, so I thought it might be fun to share my everyday experience with you all in images and words…
